Normally, the vesical cervix is covered by special cells, called epithelial. If some area of the epithelium is damaged or destroyed, a so-called erosion occurs. It is important not to confuse this with pseudo disease: in that case cells of other kind appear on “exposed” areas.
The reasons for cervical erosion to occur:
- Mechanical damage;
The causes of cervical erosion are quite diverse, but most often it is associated with infection. Having cured coleitis, vaginitis or bacterial vaginosis, the patient may face the need to treat cervical erosion as well. Sometimes it occurs even together with trivial thrush, especially if a woman has predisposing factors – ovarian pathology, reduced immunity, etc. Toxoplasma, chlamydia, ureaplasma, herpes and papilloma virus – this is not a complete list of bacteria that could destroy the epithelial cells. Often, infections occur in a latent form, but in this case they do not cause cervical erosion less often. Sometimes the disease develops as a result of mechanical damage. Early onset of sexual activity, when the hormonal balance is not fully established, and the mucous membrane is not yet “ripe”, can lead to the appearance of nonhealing wounds on the cervix. However, such a scenario is extremely rare. Also, the reason can be a birth or abortion. Low immunity, such as after an illness, is often called the cause of cervical erosion. That is why doctors recommend taking vitamin complex, which, besides supplying the body with necessary vitamins and minerals, improves immunity and the body state as a whole.
Signs of erosion
Symptoms of cervical erosion are quite scarce. This disease is very common, but, nevertheless, it usually turns out to be an accidental “discovery” during a pelvic examination. In most cases it is asymptomatic; rarely patients can have such complaints as whites, spotting or slight discomfort during intercourse. If you get such a diagnosis, the first question you want to ask your doctor, will be as follows: “Is cervical erosion dangerous, and if so, how much?” As you know, over time it can go into the tumor, which inspires some apprehension. However, if the erosion properly screened and immediately treated, there is nothing to fear. More than 50% of women at least once heard from her gynecologist about the erosion, however, cervical cancer does not develop from it (according to statistics – 11 cases per 100 000 women). The Tactics of treatment mainly depends on the size and causes of the disease.. The doctor assigns a local therapeutic compositions, or moxibustion. If tests reveal the infection, it also needs to be cured without fail.
